Mint green tea from A Tea Party In A Box is green tea blended with cool mint, packed in loose leaf sachets, 4 to a box, for a clean bright cup in the morning or the middle of the afternoon.
This is the green tea I defend at every party. Somebody always tells me they cannot stand it, and nearly every time they poured boiling water over a dusty tea bag and left it 10 minutes. That cup tastes like regret.
Green tea wants gentler heat. Aim for 160 to 180 degrees, or let boiled water sit 3 minutes, then steep 1 to 3 minutes. Cooler and shorter is the trick that keeps this one smooth and a little sweet, with the mint clean on top.
Drop 1 sachet in an 8 ounce cup, add hot water, and lift it out. No infuser, no scoop, nothing to strain.
What's inside
- 4 loose leaf mint green tea sachets
- Brewing instructions
Good for
A morning cup, an afternoon reset at your desk, iced tea in the Texas heat, and a small gift for a green tea drinker.
The details
-
4 sachets per box. Use 1 sachet per 8 ounce cup.
-
Green tea with mint, so it has caffeine. Less than a cup of coffee, and a shorter steep pulls less of it. For a mint cup with none at all in the evening, reach for Peppermint instead.
-
Brew it cooler than black tea. 160 to 180 degrees, or boiled water rested about 3 minutes, then 1 to 3 minutes of steeping.
-
Loose leaf, in a sachet. The leaf is already portioned inside, so you get loose leaf flavor without an infuser.
-
Brewing instructions included. They ship in the box with the sachets.
-
Packed in Cibolo, Texas. The same blend I pour at my tea parties.
Pair it with Peppermint for mint with no caffeine after dinner, or Mint Chocolate for dessert in a cup. Every blend is in the Tea Shop, and if one bad cup put you off green tea, the fix is in why green tea turns bitter.
Start here and brew it cool. This is the blend I pour at my parties, so you can just add hot water.
Questions people ask
Does mint green tea have caffeine?
Yes. This is green tea leaf with mint, so it carries caffeine, less than a cup of coffee and less than a strong black tea. A shorter steep pulls less of it into the cup. If you want a mint cup with no caffeine at all, Peppermint is an herbal infusion and has none in it.
Why does green tea taste bitter?
Almost always the water was too hot or the leaves sat too long. Boiling water scorches green leaf and pulls the bitter notes forward. Brew at 160 to 180 degrees, or let boiled water rest about 3 minutes, then steep 1 to 3 minutes and taste it.
How many cups do I get in a box?
Four. Each box holds 4 loose leaf sachets and 1 sachet makes an 8 ounce cup. If this becomes your everyday morning cup, order more than one box, because 4 cups goes quickly once you have the brewing right.
Do I need a teapot or an infuser?
No. The loose leaf is already packed inside the sachet, so you drop one in your cup, add hot water, and lift it out when it is done. Nothing to measure, nothing to strain, nothing extra to wash afterward.
Can I steep the same sachet more than once?
Yes. Good green tea can be steeped up to 4 times, so keep the sachet and pour fresh hot water over it. Each round comes out a little lighter than the one before, which is why I save the sachet from my first cup of the day.
