September's theme is Comfort and Culture because Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15, the day your box should be in your hands, and I live in a city that celebrates it on every corner. San Antonio does not do Hispanic Heritage Month as a poster in a hallway. It does it as music, as food, as families at long tables, and as drinks I did not grow up with but have learned to love at other people's kitchen tables.
Hispanic Heritage Month runs September 15 to October 15 and honors the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans whose families came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. It starts mid-month on purpose: September 15 is the independence day of five Central American countries, and Mexico's follows on the 16th.
Comfort is what tea has always been in my house. Culture is what my neighbors taught me it can also be. Put those together and you have a September box that tastes like where I live.
How Do I Pick the Three Teas Each Month?
Every monthly box carries one Featured Tea of the Month, one seasonal favorite, and one customer-loved classic. That is the rule I follow every month, and it is the reason I can describe September's teas to you without naming a single one.
