Tea Cup or Journal

Healing Moments in Sympathy is a sympathy gift box with tea for someone grieving the loss of a loved one: 3 loose leaf teas you choose, a teacup and saucer or a tea time journal, a sympathy card, bereavement poems, a tealight candle, tissues, and gentle prompts for remembering the person they lost.

I made this box for the moment when there are no words, or when you cannot be there in person. Flowers are lovely, and they fade. This box gives them a warm cup, a quiet minute, and something to hold on to after the service.

Inside are talking prompts that invite good memories and easy conversation about the person who passed, with questions like "What kinds of things would make them smile?" and "What lessons did you learn from them?" They work alone with a cup, or shared with family around the table.

I learned at my own kitchen table, in a difficult season, that a cup of tea gives people a reason to sit down and talk. You pick the 3 flavors, so you can send teas you know they love, or Caffeine-Free ones for evening cups. Each is pre-measured into sachets, so all they need is hot water.

If you are still deciding what to send, I wrote about sympathy gifts instead of flowers and what tends to help. If someone you love is ill or recovering rather than grieving, the Get Well Soon Comfort In A Cup box is made for that moment. You can see every box I pack in Tea Gifts.

If you are looking for something to send that says you're here, this is the box I made for that moment. I will pack it with care.

Questions people ask

What is in the Healing Moments in Sympathy box?

3 loose leaf teas you choose, 12 sachets in total, plus a teacup and saucer or a tea time journal, a keepsake tea box, a sympathy card, bereavement poems, a tealight candle, facial tissues, a teaspoon, sugar cubes, a cookie, tea facts, and tea time activities with remembrance talking prompts.

Which tea flavors can I choose, and are any Caffeine-Free?

You choose 3 of 17 flavors in the Tea Flavors picker when you order. Caffeine-Free choices include Hibiscus, Lovely Lavender, Peppermint, and Rooibos, which are gentle picks for evening cups. The full list of flavors is in The details.

Can I send a sympathy gift box directly to the grieving family?

Yes. Enter their name and address as the shipping address at checkout, and type your message and your name in the Order special instructions box in your cart so they know who sent it. Processing time is 2 to 4 days before it ships.

Is tea a good sympathy gift instead of flowers?

For many people, yes. Tea keeps long after a bouquet has faded, and it gives a grieving person a reason to sit down for a few quiet minutes. This box adds a card, poems, a candle, and remembrance prompts, so it offers comfort and something to talk about.

Is it too late to send a sympathy gift weeks after the funeral?

No. Many people find the weeks after a funeral are the quietest, when the calls and cards slow down. A box that arrives then tells them you are still thinking of them and of the person they lost.
