A Dream Steeped in Determination: Why I Opened The Tea Blossom in San Antonio

The Steeping Chronicles, October 2026: A Dream Steeped in Determination
Brewing Positivity despite Life's Challenges. No matter what happens in life, we must always find the silver lining, because life will most definitely keep life-ing. These are stories of real situations that may be bitter, but when steeped right, they make for a sweet cup of tea.
Well, we did it! After four years of carrying teacups, teapots, tables, decorations, and dreams from one event to another, The Tea Blossom finally has a place to call home! If you read last month's Chronicles, you know I was somewhere between excitement and sheer terror as we prepared to open our first tea shop. What I didn't know was just how many more opportunities life would give me to practice patience, resilience, and creative problem-solving before those doors opened. Let's just say that if construction delays, unexpected expenses, unfinished projects, and disappearing deadlines were ingredients in a tea blend, I'd have enough to serve the entire city of San Antonio!
There were days I was exhausted, frustrated, and wondering whether I had completely lost my mind. I watched money leave my account faster than I could earn it, learned more about plumbing, electrical work, and city inspections than I ever cared to know, and discovered that the words "almost finished" can have a surprisingly flexible definition. But something beautiful was happening underneath all that chaos. A dream that had lived in my imagination for years was becoming something I could actually walk into.
I thought about all the little tea parties we hosted in living rooms, offices, senior communities, and borrowed spaces. Every packed box, every late night, every customer who smiled over a cup of tea had been part of preparing us for this moment. And now, instead of simply bringing our tea parties to people, we can invite people into our own little world.
Our shop may not be perfect yet. There are systems to figure out and plenty of lessons waiting around the corner, but I've learned that sometimes you have to celebrate the accomplishment before everything is perfectly polished. Sometimes the struggle makes you appreciate the beauty that much more.
So this month, I encourage you to look at something you've been working toward and ask yourself whether you're postponing your joy until everything is perfect. Maybe you've already accomplished something worth celebrating. As for me, I'm ready to pour some tea, welcome some beautiful souls, and watch this next chapter blossom. And if you happen to visit The Tea Blossom and see a little imperfection, just smile and remember: we're still steeping.

Come Sit With Us: Visiting Our Tea Room in San Antonio
You can walk into The Tea Blossom any day from 11 AM to 8 PM, sit down, and order a pot. No reservation, no tea knowledge required. The room that started as boxes and borrowed spaces now has a door, and it's open.
Where is The Tea Blossom?
We're at 614 McCullough Ave, San Antonio, TX 78215, inside Trader's Town Market in the Tobin Hill neighborhood near downtown. The easiest way to find us is to open directions in Google Maps.
What can you order?
Hot pots and iced pours across the whole family of tea: black, green, white, oolong, herbal, chai, and a few of our house blends. There's something to eat alongside, kept simple and done well. And yes, it's completely alcohol-free, on purpose. If you've never ordered loose leaf tea in your life, you're exactly who this room is for.
Do you need a reservation?
Not for everyday tea. Walk in, come alone, bring your mama, or bring along the friend who swears she doesn't like tea. Private gatherings, classes and Tea-Mixology nights are the only things booked ahead, and we add those dates as they're set. To hear about them first, join the list on The Tea Blossom page.
Which Way to Have Tea With Us?
The tea room is one more way in, not the only one. Here's how each option works, so you can pick the one that fits your week.
| Option | How it works | Book ahead? |
|---|---|---|
| Walk in to the tea room | Sit down for a pot, daily 11 AM to 8 PM | No |
| Private gathering, class or Tea-Mixology night | Hosted in the tea room as dates are set | Yes |
| We come to you | A private tea party at your home or venue | Yes |
| Tea by mail | The Tea Club box, shipped from Texas every month | No |
If you'd rather have the party where you are, that's still what I do: book a private tea party and we'll bring the china, the tea and the games. You can see every kind of party we host on the Tea Parties page.
Can't Make It to San Antonio?
Then let the tea come to you. The Tea Club box brings 3 loose leaf teas, a cookie, a game and reflection cards to your door each month, and some months it carries a letter like this one. For someone you love in another city, a tea gift card lets her choose her own cup.
This whole thing started at my kitchen table, in a season I write about in my Christmas story. That table grew into four years of carrying teacups to other people's parties, and now into a room anyone can sit in. It isn't perfectly polished, and I've made my peace with that. We're still steeping, and there's a chair with your name on it.
If you'd like the next Steeping Chronicles letter in your hands, it rides along in the Tea Club. And if you're local, come see us. Who will you bring to the table?
